Yuexi (Tracy) Chen
- Bio: I'm Yuexi Chen (陈玥西). I also go by Tracy, a second-order approximation of the Chinese pronunciation. Currently I'm a 2nd year computer science (concentration: bioinformatics) Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland (UMD), co-advised by Prof. Max Leiserson and Prof. David Fushman. Before exploiting bioinformatics, I explored miscellaneous things as a non-CS major undergrad at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Research: I study mutational signatures in cancer patients' DNA sequencing data. Cancers are due to mutations, and our assumption is that different mutational processes (like smoking or DNA replication errors) induce mutations in their own ways. We believe a better modeling of underlying mutational processes of patients could help precision medicine. Therefore, we aim to develop a machine learning model from existing data that could also predict future patients' clinical outcomes.

- Misc: I come from Sichuan Province. In the past, I have also lived in Hefei. When I'm not sciencing, I play tennis, table tennis and billiards with friends (and computers).
